KUWAIT CITY, Feb 1: An Ethiopian woman killed on the spot when she was cornered under the wheel of a vehicle driven by a Kuwaiti woman, reports Al-Rai daily. The victim was trying to cross a street in Jabriya area when suddenly she was hit by the Kuwaiti woman. Acting on information, security operatives and paramedics rushed to the scene. The remains of the victim were referred to Forensics and the motorist was taken to the area police station for questioning.
‘Gas’ explosion injures expat: An Arab expatriate sustained several injuries and burns throughout his body when a leaking gas pipe caused an explosion inside a restaurant in Mubarakiya area. According to sources, when the Control Room of Kuwait Fire Services Directorate received information about the gas explosion, firefighters rushed to the location and extinguished the fire before it spread further. They discovered that the leaking pipe of a cooking gas cylinder caused the explosion. The victim was referred to the nearest hospital for treatment. The Media and Public Relations Department stressed the importance of regularly examining the gas pipes and gas cylinders in order to avoid such accidents, explaining that sliding a sponge wet with soap on the gas pipes can determine any leaks.
