In less than six months since the death of Kassahun Chemeda, an Oromo rights activist, who died under detention in Kaliti Prison, another Oromo rights activist and a member of the opposition Oromo People’s Congress (OPC), Ahmed Nejash, has died in prison.
ESAT Radio reported last night that Ahmed, who was detained in Kaliti prison and was a candidate of OPC in the 2010 Ethiopian general election representing his constituency in Dire Dawa, was detained two years ago.
His wife, Feriyah Abdurhman, said to the Radio that the cause of his death has not been known and no one knows where is buried. She said he was kept in solitary confinement for four months.
He is survived by his wife and his daughter.
