Oromia at Federation Square

Oromia @ Federation Square is one of the biggest Oromo Community festivals held every year. Since the beginning, Oromo people from across Australia congregated at Federation Square to celebrate and commemorate the beauty of Oromo culture. The Oromo are descendants of the Eastern-Kushitie group of people, Indigenous Africans from the country Oromia in Northeast Africa. With a population of over 40 million, the Oromo community is one of the largest Indigenous groups in East Africa. Organised by the Australian Oromo Community Association in Victoria in conjunction with Melbourne Oromo Youth Association, Oromia @ Federation Square was a jam-packed cultural extravaganza that delighted the energetic crowd.

Oromia @Federation Square is a day the Oromos in Melbourne will share their rich culture with everyone in Australia.  We aim to bring Oromo people together, irrespective of age, gender and belief, to help promote self-empowerment. We also seek to educate the public on the lifestyle, culture and ethics of members of the Australian Oromo community. Also, we will be sharing experiences, positively exploring our differences and understanding the many other cultures that make up our societies. Furthermore, it’s a time to celebrate and commemorate the beauty of Australian Oromo culture and to promote both multiculturalism and diversity across Australia.

On Sunday 22 December 2013 from 2:30pm, there will be a cultural exhibition and Oromo food on offer. The performances will begin with release doves in a ceremony to celebrate freedom and independence. Traditional dance medleys, wedding re-enactments, hip hop performances, a live band, and children’s entertainment all provides the crowd with a taste of Oromo culture and helped celebrate 25 years since the establishment of the Australian Oromo Community.

The celebration of Oromia at Federation Square marks the beginning of yet another exciting year of events that aim to bring the case of the Oromo cause. All the best to the Australian Oromos who will continue making contributions to the global Oromo cause in 2013 and beyond.

Join the celebrations with the Oromo Community at their annual festival at Fed Square.  Take part in interactive performances, watch vibrant dance medleys and admire colourful arrays of traditional jewels and costumes.

Request to remove and ban the usage of term Galla in Kenya

REQUEST TO REMOVE AND BAN THE USAGE OF TERM GALLA IN KENYA.

We, the Oromo teachers from Oromo refugee community in Kenya, are writing to you to bring into your attention the negative impact of the usage of a derogative and abusive word Galla to identify the Oromo in the text books of social studies used in primary and secondary education in Kenya. It is wrong terminology usage against Oromo identity which is unjustifiable historically to educate the nation.

In fact the people identify themselves as Oromo and their language as Afan Oromo, which is the correct terminology usage.

Although the Oromo nation is the second largest in Africa, it is forgotten by or still unknown to the majority of the world today, even the name Oromo. This is partly because of the colonial Ethiopian Emperors Menelik and Haile Sellesie and their successors which continued until today to treat Oromo with utmost cruelty due to their resistance to colony. The Oromo people endured a stagnant existence where ignorance and famine have been coupled with ruthless oppression, subjugation, and exploitation in all spheres of  life and above all extermination. Everything possible was done to destroy Oromo identity, language, culture, custom, tradition, name and origin.

In short, the colonizers maintained the general policy of genocide against the Oromo and use the term Galla to dehumanize and victimize Oromo and to destroy their identity and language. Such insulting name to the nation were abolished and eradicated by oppressed nation of 1974 revolution in Ethiopia and the usage of the term Galla is officially banned.

And sadly, to deny the Oromo the right to identity and as if this is not enough and to add insults to injuries, the term Galla is in use interchangeably for Oromo in text books of social studies used for education system in Kenya. To cite few books; the Evolution World, a History and Government course Form 1, by Oxford new edition 2010, under the topic Cushitic…………………the  Cushites group comprised of……….Galla(Oromo)………>> on page 78 and under the topic  Borana…………..the Boran are branch the Oromo or Galla people……….they speak Cushitic language called Galligna……on page 81 and also in other course book-Milestone in History and Government Form 1 by Longhorn publishers…..reprinted in 2010 under the topic Eastern Cushitic comprise of the Elmolo, Gabra, Oromo(Galla)….on page 40. And also in some many other course books published by Kenya Literature Bureau.

Hence, as we clearly tried to indicate above, such wrong terminology usage for Oromo identity  is illegal and it allows subjugation and victimization of Oromo children and people at large,infact it is clear violation of basic human Right Declaration of children’s basic right to good education and right to identify of Oromo nation.And this should not be allowed to continue by free and Democratic nation of Kenya and Africa.

Therefore,kindly we the Oromo refugees in Kenya would like to request the honourable education office and concerned authorities of institutions to totally remove the use of the term  Galla from educational books and further ban the usage of such abusive term against people in any written or oral form in Kenya.

የቀድሞው የኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል ኮርፖሬሽን ዋና ስራ አስፈፃሚ አቶ ምህረት ደበበ ከኃላፊነታቸው የተነሱት በግምገማ መሆኑን በምክትል ጠቅላይ ሚኒስትር ማዕረግ የፋይናንስ ኢኮኖሚ ክላስተር አስተባባሪና የመገናኛ ኢንፎርሜሽን ቴክኖሎጂ ሚኒስትር ዶክተር ደብረፅዮን ገ/ሚካኤል ገለፁ። በትላንትናው እለት የቀድሞ የኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል ኮርፖሬሽን ለሁለት መከፈልን አስመልክተው በሂልተን ሆቴል መግለጫ የሰጡት ሚኒስትሩ፤ በኮርፖሬሽኑ ማኔጅመንት የስራ አፈፃፀም ላይ በሰራተኞቹም ሆነ በከፍተኛ ኃላፊዎች ላይ በተደረገ ግምገማ ዋና ስራ አስፈፃሚውን አቶ ምህረትን ጨምሮ ማኔጅመንቱ መስራት የሚገባውን ያህል ስላልሰራ በግምገማ ለውጥ የተደረገ መሆኑን አመልክተዋል። አቶ ምህረት ከኃላፊነታቸው መነሳት ብዙዎችን ያስደነገጠ ቢመስልም በሰራተኛው በኩል ግን ሲጠበቅ የነበረ መሆኑ ኃላፊው አመልክተዋል። በማኔጅመንቱ በኩል ባሉት ችግሮች ላይ ከሰራተኛው ጋር ተነጋግሮ መስመር የማስያዝና ባለው አቅም ያለመስራት ችግሮች የነበሩ መሆኑን ዶ/ር ደብረፅዮን ጨምረው ገልፀዋል። አቶ ምህረት በነበራቸው አፈፃፀም ኮርፖሬሽኑ በተፈለገው ደረጃ ባለመመራቱ በነበራቸው የስራ ዘመን ያስመዘገቧቸው አዎንታዊ የስራ ውጤቶች እንደተጠበቁ ሆነው በተካሄደው ግምገማ ከነበሩበት ኃላፊነት ተነስተው በውሃና ኢነርጂ ሚኒስቴር የኢነርጂ አማካሪ ሆነው እንዲሰሩ ተመድበዋል።

የቀድሞ የኢትዮጵያ ኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል ኮርፖሬሽን በአዲሱ አደረጃጀት መሰረት የኢትዮጵያ ኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል እና የኢትዮጵያ ኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል አገልግሎት በሚል ለሁለት መከፈሉን የገለፁት ዶ/ር ደብረፅዮን፤ አሁን ባለው አዲስ አደረጃጀት ኃይል አመንጪውና አገልግሎት ሰጪ የተለያየ ኩባንያ እንዲሆን የተደረገ መሆኑን አመልክተዋል። በኮንስትራክሽኑ ዘርፍ የኢትዮጵያ ኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል ዋና ስራ አስፈፃሚ ሆነው በቅርቡ የተሾሙት የግልገል ጊቤ ሶስት ፕሮጀክት ዋና ሥራአስኪያጅ የነበሩት ኢንጅነር አዜብ አስናቀ መሆናቸው ታውቋል። ሁለተኛውን ማለትም የአገልግቱን ዘርፍ በማኔጅመንት ኮንትራት ደረጃ የሚመራው ፓወር ግሬድ የተባለው የህንድ ኩባንያ ነው።

የቀድሞው የኢትዮጵያ ኤሌክትሪክ ኃይል ኮርፖሬሽን ወደ 13ሺህ 375 አካባቢ ሰራተኞች የነበሩት መሆኑን ዶ/ር ደብረፅዮን አስታውሰው እነዚህ ሰራተኞች በአዲስ መልኩ በሚደራጁት ሁለቱም ኩባንያዎች ውስጥም በሥራቸው የሚቀጥሉ መሆናቸውን አስታውቀዋል። ኩባንያዎቹ 4ሺህ100 ተጨማሪ የሰው ኃይል ክፍተት ስለሚታይባቸው በቀጣይም ሰፊ ቅጥር የሚያስፈልግ መሆኑን በማመልከት የሰው ኃይሉንም ክፍተት ለሚሟላት በቅርቡ ቅጥር የተጀመረ መሆኑን ጨምረው ገልጸዋል። ነባሩን ሰራተኛ ባለው የትምህርት ደረጃ፣ ልምድና ክህሎት በአዲስ መልኩ የመመደብ ስራ የተጀመረ መሆኑን በመግለፅ ይህም ከላይ የተጀመረው ምደባ ወደታች የሚወርድ መሆኑ ታውቋል።

በጅዳ ቆንስል በር ውላ የምታድረው እህት ክራሞት . (ነቢዩ ሲራክ)

  ይህችን እህት በጅዳ ቆንስል መስሪያ ቤት በር ተቀምጣ ካየኋት ሳምንት አልፏል። አልፎ አልፎ ላነጋግራት ብሞክርም መልስ አትሰጥም። መጀመሪያ የየኋት ቀን አካባቢ ከስራ ለተፈናቀሉ እህቶች አነሰም በዛ መጠለያ እያለ ፣ ለምን በር ላይ ትሆናለች? ብየ የጠየቅኳቸው የቆንስሉ ጸጥታ አስከባሪ ” አንተየ የዚህች እህት ጉዳይ አስቸጋሪ ነው ። ከመጠለያው ብዙ ቆይታለች ፣ አሁን በር  ላይ የሆነችው ሃገር ቤት ለመሄድ ወረቀቷ አልቆ እያለ ” ሃገር ቤት አልሄድም!” በማለቷ እነረደሆነ ተነግሮኛል ። ” በመጠለያው የነበሩት ሰነዳቸው ባሳር በመከራ አልቆ ሲሸኙ ወደ ሃገር ቤት አልሸኝም ብላ ረብሻ ከማንሳት አልፎ ከተዘጋጀው መኪና ወርዳ ይህን የምታየው ሚኒባስ መስታውት ሰብራዋለች!  ከዚያን ቀን ወዲህ አትበላም አትጠጣም ፣ እኛንም የገረመን ይሄ ነው!  ሚን ታደርጋለህ! ” ነበር ያሉኝ …

       ይህ ከተነገረኝም “ወዲህ ሃገር ቤት አልገባም!” ያለችው እህት ለቀናት  በቆንስሉ በር አልጠፋችም። ከተቀመጠችበት ወንበር ጀርባ ባለው ግድግዳ ” ህጋዊ ሰነድ የሌላችሁ እና የወጣውን የሳውዲ ህግ መስፈርት የማታሟሉ ወደ ሃገር ግቡ !” የሚለው የቆንስል ማስታወቂያ ይታያል ። ከአጠገቧ በፕላስቲክ ኪስ የታጨቀ ጓዟን አስቀምጣ ፣  በሆዷ ቁርአን ታቅፋ አንገቷን ከመድፋት ባለፈ በአካባቢው አዛን ስትሰማ የዘወትር ጸሎቷን (ሰላቷን) ወንበሯን ፈቀቅ አድርጋ እንደምትሰግድ አንድ ዘወትር እንቅስቃሴዋን የሚከታተል ወዳጀ አጫውቶኛል… እንዲህ ሆና ኮርመት ብላ ውላ ታድራለች! ቀን ጸሃይ ሲወቃት ፣ ማታ ወበቁ ይፈራረቅባታል ! ካየኋት ቀን ጀምሮ ወደ መጠለያው እንድትገባ ብዙ ሁነን ብንማጸናትም አልተሳካልንም …

       ከሃገሯ በጤና የመጣችው እህት ችግር ውጋቷን እንድንጋራ ስንጠይቃት አትመልስም  !  ወደ ሃገር ቤት እንድትገባ በጅዳ ቆንስል ልትሸኝ ቢሞከርም አልተሳካም። የ”ሃገር ቤት ግቢ!” ” አልገባም!” አለ መግባባት  ፍርሻ ከመምጣቱ በፊት አንዳንዴ ኦሮምኛና ብዙ ጊዜ ግን የተሰባበረ  አረብኛ እየቀላቀለች መናገር ይቀናት እንደነበር አንድ ” በመጠለያው እያለች አውቃታለሁ!” ያሉ ወንድም አጫውተውኛል። ያን ሰሞን ወደ መጠለያው እንድትገባ ተለምና ብትገባም በመጠለያው ውስጥ ካሉ ግፉአን ጋር ግብ ግብ ፈጥራ መውጣቷን ሰምቻለሁ  !

     ይዚህች ግፉዕ እህት ሰላም የነሳና አዕሮዋን ያወከ የውስጥ ህመም ሚስጥር አይታወቅም! ትሰማለች ፣ ለመናገር አልፈቀደችም!  ባሳለፍናቸው የበር ላይ ውሎዋ ትንፍሽ ብላ ስትናገር ቢያን እኔ እስከ ዛሬ አልሰማኋትም ! ውስጧ እንጅ ውጭ አካሏ የተጎዳ አይመስልም! ከሁሉም የሚገርመው ይህች እህት ጤናዋ ታውኮ እንኳ ሃገር ቤት ከወገኖቿ ጋር መቀናቀል ሞት መስሏታል  ! ሌላው አስገራሚ ሂደት  የዚህችን መልከ መልካም እጣ ፈንታ የምንመለከትም ህጋዊ ሰነድ የሌለን ብዙዎች የሳውዲን መንግስት የምህረት ቀቢጸ-ተስፋ ሰንቀን ጤናችን ተጠብቆ እያለ” በሰላም ሃገር ቤት ግቡ !” የሚለውን የመንግስትና የወገን ምክር መቀበል አቅቶናል !  እንዴት ነው ነገሩ …?

አንድየ ይታረቀን ከማለት ባሻገር ምን ይባላል :) ብቻ እሱ ያቅልለው እንጅ የሚሰማ የሚታየው ይከብዳል ! … ያማል … ያማል  !

ወቅቱ የኦሮሞ ህዝብ በይበልጥ ታጥቆ ራሱን የሚከላከልበት እንጂ ባህላዊ ትጥቁ ሳይቀር በጠላት የሚፈታበት ወቅት ሊሆን ኣይገባም

የወያኔ መንግስት የኦሮሞን ህዝብ ዋነኛ የጥቃት ኢላማው በማድረግ ካለፉት ስርኣቶች ሁሉ የከፋ ስለመሆኑ ኣያጠያይቅም። በተቻለለት መንገድ ሁሉ ይህን ህዝብ በማዋረድና በማዳከም ላይ ሲተጋ ይታያል። ወያኔ ለሁለት ኣበይት ጥቅሞች ሲል ከኦሮሞ ህዝብ ጫንቃ ላይ ኣለመውረድን ኣሻፈረኝ ብሏል። የመጀመሪያው የኢኮኖሚ ጥቅም ነው። የኦሮምያን ሃብት ዘርፎ ጡንቻውን እያፈረጠመበት የኣገዛዝ እድሜውን ያራዝምበታል። የወደፊት ኣገሩንም ይገነባበታል። ሁለተኛው የፖለቲካ ጥቅም ነው። ኣለምን በሚያታልልበት የውሸት ዴሞክራሲያዊው ስርኣት ውስጥ የዚህን ብዙሃን ህዝብ ድምጽ በሃይል እየነጠቀ በኣገሪቷ መሰረተ-ሰፊ ድጋፍ ያለው መንግስት ራሱን ኣስመስሎ ኣውጇል። በይስሙላ ፓርላማው ውስጥ በኢህኣዴግ ኣባልነት ብዙሃኑን ወንበር ይዞ ሁሌም ስርኣቱን ከሽንፈት ኣደጋ ሲታደግ የምናየው የኦሮሞን ህዝብ ድምጽ ያላንዳች ጠንካራ የኦሮሞ ተቃዋሚ ፓርቲ ተሳትፎ ራሱ ጠቅልሎት የያዘው ኦፒዲኦ ነው።

የወያኔ መንግስት እነዚህን ሁለት ኣበይት ጥቅሞቹን ለማስጠበቅ ሲል ኦሮሞን ኣስፈራርቶ በኣገዛዙ ስር ለማስቀጠል ደፋ ቀና ይላል። ከህዝቡ መሃል የታጠቁ ወገኖችን ትጥቅ ማስፈታት፣ ከጎሮቤቶቹ ህዝቦች ጋር ማጋጨት፣ ኦነግን ትደግፋለህ እያለው መዝረፍና ማሰር፣ ከዚህም ኣልፎ መግደል ላለፉት 22 ኣመታት ዋነኞቹ የስርኣቱ ተግባሮች ነበሩ። በማንኛውም መልኩ የኦሮሞ ህዝብ ክንድ ጠንክሮ ስጋት ላይ እንዳይጥለው ከመግታት ቦዝኖ ኣያውቅም። በቅርቡ ከምስራቅ ኦሮምያ የሚወጡ መረጃዎች የሚጠቁሙትም ይህንኑ ኣውነታ የሚመሰክር ነው። በነዚህ መረጃዎች መሰረት የወያኔ መንግስት ምእራብ ሃረርጌ ውስጥ የኦሮሞ ተወላጆችን ትጥቅ በማስፈታት ዘመቻ ተጠምዷል። የሚገርመው ደግሞ ከህዝቡ ላይ የሚፈቱት ዘመናዊ የጦር መሳሪያዎች ሳይሆኑ ባህላዊ የልማትና የጦር መሳሪያዎች መሆኑ ነው። ኦሮሞ ዘመናዊ የጦር መሳሪያ መታጠቅ ይቅርና ባህላዊ መሳሪያውን ሳይቀር እንዲፈታ እየተገደደ ነው። በተለይም ጉባ ቆሪቻ እና ገመቺስ ወረዳዎች ውስጥ የስርኣቱ ተላላኪዎች መንጫ በመባል የሚታወቀውን ባህላዊ መሳሪያ ከህዝቡ ላይ የመቀማት ዘመቻ ላይ ተሰማርተዋል። በምስራቅ ኦሮምያው ህዝባችን ዘንድ መንጫ ከበርካታ ክፍለ ዘመናት በፊት ጀምሮ የልማትና የመከላከያ መሳሪያ በመሆን የሚታወቅ ነው። ይህ ብቻም ሳይሆን መንጫ የኦሮሞ ህዝብ የባህል ቅርስም ነው። በዚህ የኦሮምያ ክፍል መንጫ የማንነት መገለጫ ባህል ኣካል በመሆን በዘፈንና በጭፈራ ወቅት ጥቅም ላይ ይውላል። በባህል ኣልባሳት ተውቦ መንጫ በመያዝ ሸጎዬ መጨፈር ከጥንት ጀምሮ የኦሮሞ ህዝብ ባህል ኣካል ነው። በተጨማሪም ቀደም ሲል እንደ ተጠቀሰው መንጫ የልማት መሳሪያም እንደመሆኑ መጠን ገጀራ፣ መጥረቢያና ማጭድ ከመሳሰሉት ቁሳቁሶች ጋር ተመሳሳይ ኣገልግሎት ይሰጣል።

ይህን ባህላዊ መሳሪያ ከህዝቡ ላይ ለመቀማቱ ዘመቻ የተሰጠው መሰረተ ቢስ ምክንያት ደግሞ ‘ህዝቡ በመንጫ እየተጨፋጨፈ ነውና መሳሪያውን ከህዝቡ ኣሰባስበን ወደ ብረት ፋብሪካ በመላክ ወደ ምርት መሳሪያነት እንቀይራለን’ የሚል ነው። ይህ ነጭ ውሸት መሆኑን ህዝባችን በውል መገንዘብ ይኖርበታል። ማንኛውም ዜጋ በዚህ ተራ የወያኔ ቅጥፈት መታለል ኣይገባውም። ከጥንት ጀምሮ በዚህ መሳሪያ በኣግባቡ ሲጠቀም የኖረ ህዝብ ዛሬ ላይ ምን ኣግኝቶት በመንጫ ይጨፋጨፋል? በሃይለ ስላሴና በደርግ መንግስታት ዘመን ኣንድም ጊዜ ኣደገኛነቱ ተነግሮ የማያውቀው መንጫ ዛሬ በወያኔው ዘመን ለምን ለውግዘት በቃ? ይህ ስርኣት ከማናቸውም የኢትዮጵያ ክልሎች በተለየ ሁኔታ ኦሮምያ ላይ በማነጣጠር በተለይም የኦሮሞ ህዝብ መሬት ተቆርሶ ሆን ተብሎ ወደ ሶማሊ ክልል እየተካለለ ባለበት ምስራቅ ኦሮምያ ላይ ይህን መሰል ባህላዊ መሳሪያ የማስፈታት ዘመቻ ለምን ኣስፈለገው? ህዝቡ እነዚህንና የመሳሰሉትን ኣበይት ጥያቄዎችን ማንሳት ኣለበት። የጥያቄዎቹ መልስም እንደሚከተለው ነው።

የዚህ ስርኣት ትልቁ ኣላማ የኦሮሞን ህዝብ ባህላዊ ትጥቁ ሳይቀር ኣስፈትቶት ባዶ እጁን በማስቀረት እንደፈለገው ረግጦ መግዛት ነው። ወያኔ ምስራቅ ኦሮምያ ውስጥ ሁለት ተያያዥ ጸረ ኦሮሞ ዘመቻዎችን ኣንድ ላይ እያከናወነ ይገኛል። ባንድ ወገን የኦሮሞን ህዝብ ኣንጡራ መሬት ቆርሶ ወደ ሶማሊ ክልል በማካለል በሁለቱ ወንድማማች ህዝቦች መካከል ኣደገኛ ግጭት እንዲፈጠር ኣያሰሬ ነው። ‘ልዩ ሃይል’ በተሰኘው ሰራዊቱ ኣማካኝነት ኦሮሞውን ከቀዬው ሲያፈናቅል በተቃራኒው ደግሞ ሶማሊዎችን እስከ ኣፍንጫቸው እያስታጠቀ በኦሮሞ ቀዬ ላይ ያሰፍራል። ከዚሁ ጎን ለጎን በሁለተኛ ተግባርነት የተያያዘው ኦሮሞን ትጥቅ የማስፈታት ዘመቻ ነው። ኦሮሞ ባህላዊ ትጥቁን ሳይቀር ፈትቶ ባዶ እጁን ቀርቶ በቀላሉ እንዲመታ ለማመቻቸት የተያዘ ዘመቻ መሆኑ ነው። ኦሮሞው ቀዬው ላይ ጠመንጃ ቀርቶ ባህላዊ የመከላከያ መሳሪያ እንኩዋን እንዲፈታ በሚገደድበት በዚህ ወቅት ሌላ ሃይል ደግሞ ዘመናዊ ጠመንጃዎችን እስከ ኣፍንጫው ታጥቆ ኦሮምያ መሬት ላይ እንዲሰፍር እገዛ ይደረግለታል። ከዚህ እርምጃ በላይ በኦሮሞ ህዝብ ላይ የተቃጣ ጠላታዊ ጥቃት ታይቶ ኣይታወቅም። በኢትዮጵያ ታሪክ ውስጥ ደርግም ሆነ ከሱ በፊት የነበሩ የፊውዳል ስርኣቶች ኦሮሞ ላይ ብቻ ባነጣጠረ መልኩ ባህላዊ የጦር መሳሪያ ሲያስፈቱ ተሰምቶ ኣያውቅም። ወያኔ ከቀደሙት ስርኣቶች በከፋ መልኩ የኦሮሞ ህዝብ ደመኛ ጠላት መሆኑን ለማረጋገጥ ከዚህ የበለጠ መረጃ ኣያስፈልግም።

ኣሁን በምስራቅ ኦሮምያ የተያዘው ዘመቻ ወደተቀሩት የኦሮምያ ክፍሎችም እንደሚዛመት ከስርኣቱ እኩይ ልምድ መረዳት ይቻላል። የወያኔ ኣላማ ኦሮሞን እንደ ኦሮሞነቱ ባዶ እጅ በማስቀረት በቀላል ጥቃት ማንበርከክ ነውና። ስለሆነም ይህ የከፋ መንግስት ያሰናዳለትን ጥቃት መክቶ ለመመለስ ህዝቡ ካለበት ሁሉ ማመጽ ይጠበቅበታል። የምስራቁም ሆነ የማንኛውም የኦሮምያ ክፍል ህዝባችን የወያኔን ትጥቅ የማስፈታት ዘመቻ ከማክሸፍ ኣልፎ በስርኣቱ ላይ የመልሶ ማጥቃት ክንዱን ማንሳት ኣስፈላጊ ሆኗል። የኦሮሞ ህዝብ በማንኛውም የስርኣቱ ማታለያ መደናገር የለበትም። ‘የጦር መሳሪያን ወደ ልማት መሳሪያ ለመቀየር የተያዘ ዘመቻ ነው’ የሚለው የጠላት ማታለያ ከቶ ህዝባችንን ማሳሳት የለበትም። በኣለማችን ላይ ማንኛውም ህዝብ ለልማት ከሚገለገልባቸው መሳሪያዎች በተጨማሪ ባህላዊ ወይም ዘመናዊ የጦር መሳሪያዎችም ይኖሩታል። የሰው ልጅ እንደ ማጭድ፣ ገጀራና ኣካፋ ባሉት መሳሪያዎች የልማት ስራውን እንደሚያከናውነው ሁሉ ጦር፣ ጎራዴና መንጫ በመሳሰሉት መሳሪያዎች ደግሞ ከጠላት ጥቃት ራሱን ይከላከላልባቸዋል። ከኣደገኛ የዱር ኣራዊቶችም ራሱን ይጠብቅባቸዋል። ይህ የሰው ልጅ ራሱን የመከላከል ተፈጥሮኣዊ መብት ነው። ይህንን ሰብኣዊ መብት ለመግፈፍ የሚደረግ ሙከራ ሲያጋጥም ደግሞ በጋራ ክንድ መቀልበስ የግድ ይሆናል። መንጫም ሆነ ሌላ ማንኛውንም ባህላዊ የጦር መሳሪያ ከህዝቡ ለመቀማት መንደር ለመንደር የሚንከላወሱ የጠላት ተላላኪዎች የህዝቡ የተባበረ ክንድ መቅመስ ይገባቸዋል። ህዝባችን ማንኛውንም ኣይነት ትጥቁን ፍታ ሲባል መፍታት፣ ተንበርከክ ሲባል መንበርከክ ካሁን በሁዋላ ኣስነዋሪና መቆም ያለበት ነው።

በጥቅሉ የወያኔ መንግስት የኦሮሞን ህዝብ ፈርቶ ባህላዊ መሳሪያው ሳይቀር ለማስፈታት የተነሳበት ምክንያት ግልጽ ነው። በመላው ኦሮምያ ህዝቡ በተለያዩ መንገዶች በስርኣቱ ላይ ያፋፋመው የኣልገዛም ባይነት ንቅናቄ ከቁጥጥሩ ውጭ ከሚወጣበት ደረጃ መቃረቡ ነው። በትጥቅ ትግል ላይ ከተሰማሩት ቆራጥ የኦሮሞ ልጆች በተጨማሪ እዚያው የስርኣቱ ጉያ ስር ሆነው በወያኔ ኣደገኛ ካድሬዎች ላይ ኣስደማሚ የጥቃት እርምጃ የሚወስዱ ጀግኖች መበራከታቸው ስርኣቱን ክፉኛ ኣስበርግጎታል። በዚህ ሁኔታ ከቀጠለ ኦሮምያ ከኣጭር ጊዜ በሁዋላ ከእጁ ልታመልጥ መሆኑ ለስርኣቱ የገባው ይመስላል። ለዚህ ደግሞ እንደ መፍትሄ መውሰድ የመረጠው እርምጃ ኦሮሞን ማንኛውም ትጥቅ ኣልባ ማድረግ፣ እርስ በራሱና ከጎሮቤቶቹ ጋር ማጋጨት፣ ባጠቃላይ ከውስጥና ከውጭ ህዝቡን ሰላም ነስቶት የትግል ክንዱን ማላሸቅ ሆኗል። ህዝባችን ግን ይህ የጠላት ምኞት እንዳይሳካ በተባበረ ክንድ መፋለም ብቸኛ ምርጫው ሆኗል። ህሊና ያላቸው የኦፒዲኦ ኣባላት ሳይቀሩ ነገ ከማይቀርላቸው የታሪክ ተጠያቂነት ለመዳን ከፈለጉ ኣንዲህ ባለው ወቅት ህዝባቸው ላይ የሚፈጸመውን ግፍ በግልጽ መቃወም ይጠበቅባቸዋል።

ወቅቱ ለኦሮሞ ህዝብ ተጨማሪ ዘመናዊ መሳሪያዎችን በሚገባ በመታጠቅ ራስን የሚከላከሉበት እንጂ ባህላዊ መሳሪያም ሳይቀር የሚፈቱበት ወቅት ሊሆን ኣይገባም። በተለይም ወጣቱ ትውልድ ቄሮው ኣንደ ቄሮነቱ ባለበት ሁሉ ተደራጅቶ ዘመናዊ የጦር መሳሪያዎችን ከጠላት እጅ እየነጠቀ በመታጠቅ እየተዋረደ ያለውን ህዝቡን ከውርደት ማዳን የወቅቱ ጥያቄ ነው።

Ethiopia accused of stoking Moyale clashes

December 9, 2013, Nairobi, Kenya (Standard) — MPs Ali Rasso (Saku), Roba Duba ( Moyale) and Mohamud Ali, a former Moyale MP, Sunday claimed Ethiopia was using its military and local militias to hunt down Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) rebels.
Rasso, a former Kenya army colonel, alleged that about 400 militiamen fighting the OLF in Kenya were behind the anarchy in Moyale.
The leaders blamed the attackers for the burning of more than 100 houses in Butiye and Moyale town. Rasso said a gang in full military uniform went on a torching-spree of houses that belonged to senior Borana personalities.
Among the houses burnt on Saturday morning included that of Butiye Ward Representaive Golicha Galgalo and former MPs, Guyo Halake Liban and Mohammed Galgalo.
‘‘ Moyale was deserted on Friday afternoon and the whole of Saturday. Even the fighters retreated. But some people in military uniform were all over burning houses and killing all those in sight,’’ said Rasso.
The MP claimed the Kenya Defence Forces,  deployed to stop the inter-clan clashes, was collaborating with the Ethiopian military and the militias.
He claimed a detachment of Kenya Army based at Odha has an Ethiopian military liaison officer by the name Kiross. “The Ethiopian government has always had a liaison officer at Odha. This man Kiross is their liaison officer and he is the one,” Rasso claimed.
“‘The Kenyan government in collaboration with the Ethiopian government kicked out the OLF in Moyale in 2010, but the Ethiopians were told by the county government officials that the rebels are still there,’’ said the MP.
Marsabit County Commissioner, Isaiah Nakoru refuted claims that KDF was working with their counterparts from Ethiopia but added that his office had received complaints that fighters in military uniform were sighted in Moyale on Friday and Saturday.
“We are investigating about armed people in military gear who were seen in battle in Moyale. But the report we have so far is that militias were behind the burning of the houses,” said Mr Nakoru.
The administrator added that both the protagonists—the Gabra and Burji on one side and the Borana on the other, are backed by their kinsmen from Ethiopia.
Both Kenya and Ethipoia, he added have deployed soldiers along their common border to ensure that no militiamen cross into Kenya. But both countries have also ensured that those seeking refuge are given a safe haven.
That, however, is restricted to the main crossing border point at Moyale. According to sources outside the Government, 17 people were killed between Friday and Saturday, bringing the death toll to 27 in the past one week.
An estimated 70,000 Moyale Central residents have sought refuge in Ethiopia as Kenya Army moved into the volatile border town with armoured vehicles and helicopter gunships.

On behalf of the Oromo Liberation Front (OLF) and the Oromo people, I wish to convey my deepest condolences and sympathies to you and the people of South Africa during this time of national mourning. The passing of Former President Mandela is a tremendous loss not only to South Africa and Africa alone but to the whole world.

The world and Africa in particular has lost an extraordinary statesman; a true freedom fighter whose moral strength, dedication and determination liberated his people from the evil of apartheid and set a genuine example for the rest of world. This gallant son and leader of Africa, through his unconditional sacrifices and heroism transformed his beloved country, South Africa, into peaceful multiracial nation that continues to serve as an example of a true and genuine national reconciliation in the world.

We, Oromo, have very fond memories of Mr. Mandela’s secret visit to our country in 1962, where he was hosted by General Taddasa Biru, an Oromo hero, founder of the OLF and leader who was murdered by the Ethiopian regime in 1975, while in struggle for the liberation of his own people. General Taddasa Biru trained and prepared Mr. Mandela for armed struggle. Because of this connection in particular, Mr. Nelson Mandela has become a source of inspiration for those of us struggling for freedom, equality, peace and reconciliation. We will greatly miss this freedom icon and giant son of Africa.

History will remember President Nelson Mandela as a great man and hero. Nobel laureate Nelson Mandela’s legacy will live on and inspire generations to come.

At this moment, our prayers are with the people of South Africa and President Mandela’s family in particular and we hope that they will find strength and solace to overcome their sorrow during this period of deep grief.

May his soul rest in eternal peace!

ከሳዑዲ ለሚመለሱ ኢትዮጵያውያን 13.1 ሚሊዮን ዶላር ድጋፍ ተጠየቀ

ዓለም አቀፍ የስደት ድርጅት (አይኦኤም) ከሳዑዲ ዓረቢያ ለተመለሱና በ  በጋዜጣው ሪፖርተር

ቁጥራቸውም 120 ሺሕ እንደሚደርስ ለሚገመቱ ተመላሽ ኢትዮጵያውያን 13.1 ሚሊዮን ዶላር ድጋፍ እንዲደረግ ለዓለም አቀፉ ማኅበረሰብ ጥያቄ አቀረበ፡፡ ድርጅቱ እንደሚለው ከስደት ተመላሾቹ ቁጥር በፍጥነት እየጨመረ በመሆኑ የ24 ሰዓት አጣዳፊ ዕርዳታ ያስፈልጋል፡፡ እስካለፈው ሐሙስ ኅዳር 26 ቀን 2006 ዓ.ም. ድረስ የኢትዮጵያ መንግሥት ከ100 ሺሕ በላይ ተመላሾችን መቀበሉን ያስታወቀው አይኦኤም፣ ከእነዚህ ውስጥ ከ90 ሺሕ በላይ ለሚሆኑ የስደት ተመላሾች የቀጥታ ድጋፍ ማድረጉን አስታውቋል፡፡ በየቀኑም ከሰባት ሺሕ በላይ ስደተኞች እየተመለሱ ናቸው ብሏል፡፡ አይኦኤም ለትራንስፖርት፣ ለሕክምና፣ ለምግብና ለተዛማጅ አገልግሎቶች ድጋፍ እያደረገ መሆኑን አስታውቆ፣ ቤተሰብ ለሌላቸው 167 ልጆች ዕርዳታ ማድረጉን ገልጿል፡፡

ሃምሳ ስምንት ሕፃናትን ከመንግሥት ጋር በመተባበር ወደ ቤተሰቦቻቸው መሸኘቱን አስታውቋል፡፡ አይኦኤም 2.5 ሚሊዮን ዶላር ድጋፍ ቢያገኝም፣ የ13.1 ሚሊዮን ዶላር ክፍተት ስላለ፣ የዓለም አቀፉ ማኅበረሰብ ድጋፍ እንደሚያስፈልገው አስታውቋል፡፡ ለእያንዳንዱ ተመላሽ በነፍስ ወከፍ 130 ዶላር እንደሚያስፈልገው ገልጿል፡፡ እስካሁን ዩኒሴፍ፣ ዩኤንኤችሲአር፣ የዓለም ምግብ ፕሮግራም፣ የኢትዮጵያ ቀይ መስቀል ማኅበር፣ የዓለም ቀይ መስቀል ኮሚቴና ሌሎች አካላት የተለያዩ ድጋፎችን ማድረጋቸውን አስታውቋል፡፡ 

 

በዛሬው እለት ከ20 000 በላይ የሚቆጠሩ ሰዎች የኬንያን ወሰን አቋርጠው ወደ ኢትዮጵያ ገብተዋል። በመቶ የሚቆተሩ ሰዎች ተገለዋል።
